Regarding your search for variations on the “I (blank) but I’ve chosen (blank)” phrase, the linguists over at Language Log like to play the game of hunting down such formulas. They’ve even got a name for them: “snowclones”. I’m not sure what tool they use to do their searches but I’ve seen some results which looked like more than Google could do.
