the sleeper awakens

Detail from July 23, 2003 flyer: two mannequins El Manikin began their 2½-week west coast tour yesterday, this despite Alfonso’s gubernatorial ineligibility. If any among this site’s thousands of readers happens to live in Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Colorado, or Oklahoma, do not miss El Manikin. Or, as marquees, newspapers, and flyers will likely have it, the Mannikin. Or the Mannequin. Or the Mannequins. One of Austin’s finest bands.

  7. I got an email scene report from Alfonso in Tucson this morning. He said they played with two emo bands in El Paso and they didn’t seem to care for the Manikin, but they got paid well all the same. Sounds like they’re having fun, and no major car troubles or band squabbles yet.

  8. Dammit, Chris! I was debating whether or not to make a Mannequin The Movie reference! I guess you beat me to it…
