Various boring odds and ends about Movable Type and Chom’s internal affairs:

• Movable Type 2.63 is installed.
• Movable Type may incorrectly report that pings to chompy.net fail when adding a new entry. This is a bug in Movable Type, and will be fixed. The authors of MT are likely busy as hell, so who knows when. In the meantime, don’t worry about it. (Update: It’s been fixed.)
• MT might hang on the ‘pinging sites’ page for as long as 20 seconds when you add a new entry. This is intended to prevent spurious timeout errors when pinging, but it may make the server seem unbearably slow.
• Just a reminder: you can use SmartyPants for aesthetically pleasing quotes and dashes. Curly quotes look awful with the font I use, so I don’t use it, but, you know.
• I’ve installed a strange little plugin called MT-Textile, which allows you to nicely format your weblog entries using a very simple set of tags that are automatically converted to proper HTML. You can play with Textile on this demo page. If you like it, enable it by choosing “Textile” under “Text Formatting” on your entry creation form. You can also permanently enable it from the weblog config section of MT.
• I made some changes over at SNF that might break Shoplifters, Unite. Let me know if something doesn’t work.
• Even a seven-dollar bottle of wine does the job when needed.
• Yikes, the lights are flickering at the office.
