I love rice! Not the university, which put me on their “waiting list,” not the band, though they’re not bad, but rice, the food. Rice. I like rice. Basmati rice, Texmati rice, jasmine rice, Spanish rice, arborio rice and risotto, sticky rice with mangoes, peppers stuffed with rice, rice soup, Rice-A-Roni, even Rice Chex. I like rice cookers, rice dispensers, and rice bins at the health food store. Some may argue, but the best rice in the world is Kokuho Rose. Let me tell you something important. The only good thing about Margaret Cho’s short-lived sitcom, All-American Girl, was the scene when her television grandmother, one hand clenched as if clutching something unbearably precious, gravely said to her family, “Rice. Rice is binding.” My mom loves me because I like rice.
I don’t like rice cakes. Or wild rice, for that matter, but Tamara tells me that it’s not really rice. She also reminds me that I should like Budweiser, because it’s rice beer. But I don’t.
I would like to thank Sarah and Tamara for inspiring this outpouring of ricey love.

I, too, love rice.
Soon you will learn to love japonica rice, which should possibly be capitalized.
I like rice cakes and wild rice, and though I don’t really like Budweiser, there’s something really comforting about drinking a Bud longneck in the summertime. Perhaps it’s because I spent much of my formative years in St. Louis, Missouri.

i love rice so much, really love. and longneck bud is nice too. in french we call it, girafe bud. at the work cafeteria when they have something gooey or meaty, i will only take rice and potatoes, double portion. the cook asks me “rice and potatoes?” and i always answer yessss.

i also love rice. yesterday i had instant rice, lemon and herb, and it was strange and delicious. i have never been able to find the instant rice i loved to eat in montreal, which is odd because it was uncle ben’s and they are based out of houston.
