when i got home, i was alone

dad left for pennsylvania on tuesday, giving me five weeks to drop all pretense of trying to make way in civilized society and just hack away at piecat.doc. i'm lazing a bit this week, getting settled into the empty house, but monday i'm going to hit the switch and go for broke. and by hit the switch i mean turn off the router. you might say burn the bridge, or possibly frobulate the cable modem.

rain since tuesday barely found my way to the shop for the milk in the morning and the news of the world

what have i been doing? last night around 3:30am i listened to laurie anderson's "the ugly one with the jewels" at high volume in the drawing room while lying on the red leather sofa. relaxing. the night before i started doing laundry at midnight and when the dryer finished, i folded my clean clothes while watching heavy metal on cable. such an oddly reassuring animated feature. i would tell you it was inspiring but you would get entirely the wrong idea.
